The Lady Baxter Up Close

troop reenactment at Old State House

The Lady Baxter is a cannon captured from the Confederacy that was refurbished by Elisha Baxter's supporters during the Arkansas Insurrection known as the Brooks-Baxter War of 1874. The cannon can be seen at The Old State House on Markham Street between the Peabody and Doubletree Hotels near the River Market District. The cannon had been spiked to prevent its firing at the close of the war.
